General English

(Basic – Advanced)

Our full-time General English Course is aimed to improve the students’ functional and communicative ability. Its goal is to develop their ability and confidence in using English with special regards to functioning in an English environment. Prior to taking the course students are expected to have a strong grasp of English Grammar and sufficient communications skills to interact well with instructors and peers.

By the end of the course, students should be able to:

 
  • Apply basic reading skills to extract salient information from simple linear and non-linear texts.
  • Recognise the basic elements of textual organisation, discuss and write about issues related to their reading.
  • Use basic study skills in English
  • Use the structure of academic discourse in their general field of specialisation
  • Apply appropriate techniques in their reading of authentic academic texts.
  • Make notes.
  • Write summaries and short comments related to reading texts
  • Comprehend subject related lectures and discourse in English
  • Express their views at seminars, meetings and panel discussion within formal academic settings.
 

Academic English

Our full time Academic English is aimed to further improve students’ functional and communicative skills. Its goal is to develop their ability and confidence in using English with special regard to the academic environment. In addition,a unique computer testing and learning system is incorporated to provide personalized coaching for students.
